⑨ Earth Garden (Shadow Rays 2013)

On the floor spread with white pebbles end to end, a video of the shadow cast by a fictitious structure is projected. Since ancient times, shadows have been expressed as a glimpse of an invisible different world seen at the border with this world. The floor becomes a water surface from time to time and becomes a border with a different world. The video shows a shadow that changes as the sun moves over this site at 38.657 degrees north latitude and 140.871 degrees east longitude. The sound expresses the passing of seasons by combining auditory effects for spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Through these effects, enjoy a temporal and spatial trip into an invisible fictitious world that coexists with this world.

About the work

This work is aimed at providing a temporal and spatial perception and experience in a fictitious world through video and sound. The video that is cast on the floor is the image of a shadow that is cast by a fictitious space that exists around it. The image continuously changes its shape in accordance with the orbit of a fictitious sun. The space around you will be transformed into a fictitious space and time via the image of shadow and its changing movement, and the phonetic environment as the metaphor of the orbital of the fictitious sun.
